Philip Hanson FCA

Philip is our Audit Compliance Partner. He also has extensive experience in the fields of accounting and taxation.

He was born and educated in Derby. He has an honours degree in Law and History (Emmanuel College, Cambridge). Like Kultaran, Philip also trained and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Cooper-Parry of Derby before joining Coopers & Lybrand (now PriceWaterhouseCoopers) London in 1973.

Philip worked with PWC in Yugoslavia and on a two-year assignment in Tehran, Iran. On his return to the UK, Philip worked with PWC in their Nottingham office before joining Harrison & Sedgwick of Green Lane, Derby. He became a partner with Peter Cross in 1986. On Peter’s retirement in 1997, the firm merged with Kultaran Singh & Co.

He is married with three children.

Philip enjoys all aspects of tax planning and holds the Advanced Financial Planning Certificate.

His interests include golf, cricket, history and farming. He is actively involved in his local community being Vice-Chairman of his Parish Council, a Trustee of various charities and Chief Executive and General Secretary of Midland District Miners’ Fatal Accident Relief Society.
